Magnificent Abbey Fall, Coorg

ABBEY FALLS, COORG

Kodagu which is also known as Coorg, is an administrative district in Karnataka. Madikeri is the headquarter of kodagu. Coorg is a tourist attraction known for its coffee and ethnic warrior people. Coorg is rated as one of the top hill station destinations in India.
Being a nature lover, I happen to land on this spectacular creation of nature in one of my travels to this particular place so that I feel like sharing it with all of you so that you can also have a feel of this place had visited this place during monsoon when the nature is at its magnificent glory. Coorg can be reached from Bangalore or from Mysore by road and I had traveled from Mysore by road to reach this place passing by  coffee plantation. Coorg is called the ‘Scotland of India’, the reason why people enjoy going to this place time and again. One has to see it to believe it. One need to have a week long holidays to experience and soak in the nature’s bounty, but I had managed to catch up the most places in 3 days of stay. But I do missed some of the places also . In this series I will be taking you across to the some of the most important places to see in Coorg in my views….

Abbey water fall is situated at about 8 km from the Madikeri town which will take you to another world and it’s spectacular view will definitely prompt you to come back to it’s lap again and again. A narrow downhill walk of around 500meters will take you to the waterfall. A hanging bridge has been built to have a good view of the fall. The roar of the fall can be heard from the road itself. The roaring sound of the waterfalls is a stark contrast to the otherwise tranquil environment of Coorg. As the water flows down in a speed it creates a layer of misty cloud that always hang over the mountains and provides a bewitching sight to the onlooker One can reach this place by car through a narrow road from Madikeri upto the entrance of the fall. The best time to visit the Abbey Falls is from July to October when monsoon brings in plenty of water.

Bhagsunag falls ,Macleodganj, Dharamsala

Bhagsu Falls is a small yet beautiful waterfall located 2km away from Mcleodganj. Around 0.5 km from the waterfall stands the Bhagsunath temple.  Further, about 1.5 km a path leads to waterfall, which is at its pristine glory during monsoon. The view of unsullied water gushing out of the water fall and the mist emanating from the fall about 20 feet is indeed a delighting experience.   You Can Take A Dip In The Chilly Water Of Fall .  This waterfall is located on the main road connecting McLeodganj and Dharamshala. It is around 11 km from Dharamshala and directly connected with Gaggal Airport and Pathankot Railway Station by roadways.

Bhagsunag Temple is situated around 2 km from McLeodganj Bazaar.

The route to the waterfall

Cascading waterfall

During monsoons, the place is subject to heavy rains and snow is winter. It is a good idea to avoid visiting during mid-winter. During monsoons, this waterfall turns into a 30 ft cascade besides a mountain that looks like an art piece made out of slate. This occurrence is due to the rich deposits of slate in the surroundings.

It is a place where one can enjoy and relax in the soothing environment of the miraculous Himalayas.

A day's trip to Satakosia Wildlife Sanctuary, Tikarpada,Odisha

Satkosia-Gorge-Sanctuary is located in the districts of Nayagarh, Angul and Boudh in the state of Odisha. Satkosia-Gorge-Sanctuary is best visited during the months of October to June, when the weather is pleasant and favourable for exploring the sanctuary. The approximate distance between from Bhubanesar is 153km.

Tikarpada is  a small village in the Anugl district of Orissa that commands a stunning view of the surrounding rugged terrain, offers a spectacular view of Mahanadi River as it cuts through the densely forested Eastern Ghats with sheer force and raw power. Tikarapada also serves as a convenient base for a  Gharial Research and Conservation Centre  established at Tikarpada in 1975 to save the small population of these reptiles . Satkosia can be reached either from Angul or from the Athagarh side.
