ABBEY FALLS, COORG
Kodagu which is also known as Coorg, is an
administrative district in Karnataka. Madikeri is the headquarter of kodagu. Coorg
is a tourist attraction known for its coffee and ethnic warrior people. Coorg
is rated as one of the top hill station destinations in India.
Being a nature lover, I
happen to land on this spectacular creation of nature in one of my travels to
this particular place so that I feel like sharing it with all of you so that
you can also have a feel of this place had visited this place during monsoon
when the nature is at its magnificent glory. Coorg can be reached from
Bangalore or from Mysore by road and I had traveled from Mysore by road to
reach this place passing by coffee
plantation. Coorg is called the ‘Scotland of India’, the
reason why people enjoy going to this place time and again. One has to see it
to believe it. One need to have a week long holidays to experience and soak in
the nature’s bounty, but I had managed to catch up the most places in 3 days of
stay. But I do missed some of the places also . In this series I will be taking
you across to the some of the most important places to see in Coorg in my
views….
Abbey water fall is situated at about 8 km from
the Madikeri town which will take you to another world and it’s spectacular view
will definitely prompt you to come back to it’s lap again and again. A narrow
downhill walk of around 500meters will take you to the waterfall. A hanging
bridge has been built to have a good view of the fall. The roar of the fall can
be heard from the road itself. The roaring sound of the waterfalls is a stark
contrast to the otherwise tranquil environment of Coorg. As the water flows
down in a speed it creates a layer of misty cloud that always hang over the
mountains and provides a bewitching sight to the onlooker One can reach this
place by car through a narrow road from Madikeri upto the entrance of the fall.
The best time to visit the Abbey Falls is from July to October when monsoon
brings in plenty of water.
